Wow! What a whirlwind of a week!
Last week, I was honoured to decorate the VIP members tent at The New Forest and Hampshire County Show. I printed and framed lots of images from various series, including The Flower Horse, The Shadow Horse and my Encaustic range. All my work went down a treat- it was so humbling to hear such positive feedback about my work.
Whilst setting up on the first day, I was a little worried as the wind was really starting to pick up… the frames were hanging on the sides of this gigantic marquee and to say they were swinging in the wind is an understatement! Luckily, my handy man Nick did an amazing job securing everything… I just had images in my head of frames flying all over the place!
What a beautiful place, though. Arriving first thing in the morning before the gates opened to the public was really special… the hustle and bustle of traders putting the finishing touches on their stands and the quiet of the enormous show rings made me feel very much at home! I spent years as a young equine portrait photographer on trade stands at shows like this one, nervous and expectant for the week ahead. This year was far more relaxing for me and way less nerve-racking!
I was up at the crack of dawn every day, getting to the show ground for about 7am and not leaving until 7pm most nights! So although totally shattering, I had the best time and met some amazing and interesting people. It also allowed me to network with some really great contacts…discussing some exciting new ideas and projects!
….And what a view from the office, hey! I was so lucky to be able to do my absolute favourite thing and watch horses all day long! A horse lover’s absolute dream!
